Our Hybrid programs launched in 2019. Students in hybrid programs must participate in the synchronous (live) course sessions Monday through Thursday from 6:30 - 8:30/9:00 PM PDT. Additionally, J.D. and J.D./M.L.S. Hybrid students must attend an educational symposium once each academic year (one weekend) in the spring semester at our San Luis Obispo campus. The symposium will be on a Friday afternoon, all day Saturday, and part of the day Sunday. Attendance for both the synchronous class sessions and the symposium is mandatory. Students in our Hybrid programs come from all over California and are eligible to sit for the California Bar upon successful completion. Students in the Hybrid program also designate one of our physical campuses as their “home base” for student services (where they will travel to if they need in-person support).

Hybrid Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.)
Monterey College of Law is accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California to offer the Hybrid Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree. The J.D is a three-to-four year (90 unit) traditional U.S. graduate law degree program designed for individuals who wish to be licensed as a California attorney.
Hybrid J.D./M.L.S.– Concurrent Degree Program
In the dual-degree program an individual earns both a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) and a Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.) degree. It gives one an added boost when entering the legal sphere after completion of the 90-unit program.
Hybrid J.D./M.L.S. Tech Concentration– Concurrent Degree Program
The Hybrid JD/MLS Tech Concentration is designed to bridge the gap between traditional legal studies and the ever-growing need for lawyers in the workforce to understand and apply the law in tech-focused industries. This concentration will give law students a competitive edge in an increasingly tech dominated world and advance their career into an industry that offers many new innovative career opportunities. The goal of this concentration will be to understand the specifics of applying legal principles, including contracts, legal writing, negotiations, and business organizations, into the framework of a technology-focused industry. This will include understanding the ins-and-outs of intellectual property, corporate governance, patents and trademarks, and venture capital.

Hybrid Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.)
The Hybrid Master of Legal Studies degree is a 36 unit, two-year graduate program for individuals who desire to obtain an advanced knowledge of the law and the American legal system, but who do not wish to become lawyers. The degree program is designed for individuals in careers that involves interaction with lawyers and the legal system and for those who are entering professions where an understanding of legal reasoning and the legal system will improve their professional effectiveness.
Hybrid LL.M.
The Hybrid LL.M. graduate law degree program is a 24-unit program that is designed to promote advanced legal educational for practicing attorneys and law schools graduates from the U.S and foreign countries. Applicants are required to have successfully completed a first degree in law from a U.S. law school or foreign legal studies program. The Hybrid LL.M. degree curriculum is designed individually for each student to meet his or her specific goals.
